  • 30/30 WR air filters
In railroad, stationary engine, and marine applications, air filter performance plays an important role in the reliability, life expectancy and maintenance costs of critical equipment. An inefficient air filter causes an engine to work harder, use more energy, and creates wear, all of which increases costs and environmental pollutants. The bottom line - engines need to be able to breathe clean, dry air, and Parker's range of engine air filters offer the highest degree of filtration and life available, even in the harshest of conditions.

Parker Farr is the leader in clean air technology and air filter production. Renowned for providing integrated filtration solutions, the Parker Farr engineering team can develop filtration systems that protect engines and reduce fuel consumption, minimizing the total cost of ownership as well as the environmental impact of operations. Parker Farr's intake filters provide clean air solutions for a wide range of mobile applications such as off road and mass transit vehicles, intercity passenger cars, and marine engines.

The Parker Farr R30/30WR Water Resistant Air Filter is comprised of medium efficiency ASHRAE pleated panels. This filter features a multi-layered, non-cellulose media that effectively repels water while capturing dust, lint, pollen and other particulate contaminants. The R30/30WR is 2 to 3 times more efficient than conventional pad filters because its pleated design contains over 7 times more media surface area. The increased efficiency of this filter results in lower dirt penetration and enhanced removal of harmful micro fine particles, reducing wear, and extending the life of the engine - saving maintenance costs and engine downtime.

The R30/30WR's media is enclosed in a waterproof frame made of proprietary board material that will not deform or degrade throughout the service life of the filter. The frame is bonded to the media to prevent air bypass, and is reinforced with diagonal support at the air intake and exit, maintaining uniform pleat spacing during operation.  Available in depths of 1”, 2”, and 4”, and various sizes - this filter is a versatile choice.

    Ratings and Performance:

    • The R30/30WR is rated as a MERV 7 filter under ASHRAE test procedure 52.2-2007 ( this is equivalent to a 25-30% dust spot efficiency and 90-92% arrestance rating under ASHRAE 52.1-1992)
    • Initial resistance to airflow shall not exceed (0.22”, 0.25”, 0.23”) w.g. at the rated airflow

  • RF-180 Bag Filter
For years, the railroad industry has recognized that paper-type engine air filters offer the best in efficiency, engine protection and overall performance. However, bag-type filters have remained the preferred choice for many because of their ease of application and regular changeout cycles.

The Parker RF-180 engine air intake filters combines the best of both worlds. A new concept in locomotive air filtration, this “hybrid” design integrates the high efficiency and trouble-free performance of paper type filters into the popular bag configuration.

Bag filters are often the last line of defense for the combustion air of a locomotive or the air of an industrial process. The multi-layered design provides gradients that allow for higher efficiency and lifetime to provide maximum performance and meet long service intervals.

Extended tests of the RF-180 were performed at major railroads. The results of the pressure drop readings and laboratory analysis revealed that the RF-180 would last at least six months and still have life remaining. With its six-month recommended changeout cycle, the RF-180 offers double the life of conventional bags – yet it doesn't cost twice as much. An additional benefit of eliminating up to two changeouts per year, is a reduction of both filter and labor costs.

Standard filtration efficiencies required in many applications are 96 - 98%. However, in very dusty environments such as desert or mining applications, many customers prefer the extra protection of 99%+ provided by Parker's RF-180 High Efficiency bag filter. Higher filtration efficiency means lower dirt penetration and enhanced removal of harmful microfine particles – resulting in better protection and longer engine life.

The RF-180 uses a special outer layer of material that keeps the oil inside the bag and out of turbochargers, aftercoolers and engines. And because the bag doesn't dry out from oil migration, the service life is extended. The versatile RF-180 is ready to install in any existing bag housing, with a filter that remains dry and oil-free, so it's cleaner and easier to handle than a conventional bag.

Offering versatile installation, an innovative design, and reducing maintenance costs in multiple ways, the Parker RF-180 engine air intake filters cannot be beat.

  • Monoclone Inertial Air Filters
The Parker Farr Monoclone is an inertial cleaner that is environmentally friendly, and a sustainable product, as they self-clean and do not require regular replacement elements. The Monoclone is recommended where dust concentrations are extreme or where service work must be minimized.

Inertial separators are highly efficient as a primary air filtration device or as a pre-cleaner for high efficiency secondary filters. The Monoclone can easily handle high dust concentrations without any significant maintenance. The unique impeller shape of the Monoclone tube propels the aspirated engine air, creating a spinning motion. This spinning air generates a centrifugal force. The centrifugal force generated separates the dust from the intake airflow, using the principle of inertia. Because the dust has greater mass, and more resistance (inertia), it separates from the intake air. The separated dust particulate is then bled away from the airstream by means of a scavenge fan, making the Monoclone a self-cleaning filter that does not require replacing elements.

The Monoclone panels are also highly efficient water separators. Up to 90% of water can be separated.

The unique construction and fabrication method gives this centrifugal separation filter an excellent structural resistance and superb adaptability. With the help of computer assisted tools, the Monoclone panels are customizable just like a modular solution, to better respond to the special shapes or performances that today's applications require. With housing available in painted carbon steel or aluminum and stainless steel, the Monoclone's plastic separator tubes result in a compact, lightweight design which is easier to handle, and can be both cost effective and corrosion resistant.

The Monoclone panels can be custom-configured in almost any arrangement, allowing them to match both the physical layout and airflow requirements of any system. Completely flexible to the needs of our customers, this air filtration solution from Parker is an excellent option for extreme dust concentration or minimized servicing application.

  • Dynavane Self-Cleaning Inertial Air Filter
The Parker Farr Dynavane's performance is unequalled! Extensive testing under laboratory and field conditions has proven the Dynavane to be one of the most effective high volume air cleaners for use in pre-cleaning, single and multi-stage filtering systems. It has been demonstrated over many years of application that the Dynavane inertial separator will perform efficiently in a wide variety of operating conditions, at all velocities – from idle through top speed. The Dynavane can remove 10% more airborne contaminants than any competitive unit, resulting in a much cleaner air compartment, generator, traction motor and blower. This inertial separator is designed to provide long, trouble-free service under the most difficult conditions.

The Dynavane is an inertial cleaner that is environmentally friendly, and a sustainable product, as they self-clean and do not require regular replacement associated with typical throw-away barrier filters. The Dynavane is recommended where dust concentrations are extreme or where service work must be minimized.

Inertial separators are highly efficient as a primary air filtration device or as a pre-cleaner for high efficiency secondary filters. Using a sophisticated design, the Dynavane incorporates the principle of inertial separation, providing high dust removal efficiency of airborne particulate matter. Contaminated air enters the inlet and moves down the wedge shaped cells. As the mixture of dust and air enters the Dynavane, most of the air changes direction. As the air changes direction and passes through the side vanes, inertial force separates the contaminants from the air. Because of its greater mass (and inertia), the dust continues in a straight line with 10% of the incoming “bleed air” through the bleed slot, into the dust bin duct. The dust laden bleed air may then be discharged directly back into the surrounding atmosphere, or a secondary dust collector, making this a truly self-cleaning operation. Intake air is efficiently cleaned with minimum resistance due to this specially engineered design.

Over 90% of airborne moisture is removed as the clean air enters the unit. Strategic placement of special water barriers prevents rain or other liquids from migrating through the Dynavane assembly. Less moisture equals fewer electrical problems, reducing maintenance costs.

The Dynavane features rugged construction - fabricated of mild steel or stainless steel or aluminum, these units will provide economical service for years to come. The vanes are computer optimized and individually die-formed, which eliminates the cracking common to stamped louvers in thin steel sheets, and provides superior performance characteristics. The individual vanes are assembled into a totally rigid unit which eliminates flutter, vibration and noise. The wider vane spacing and a longer bleed slot reduce airflow resistance and the chance of plugging, achieving absolute minimum in contaminant penetration and offering a longer service life.

The Dynavane's efficiency is dependent on the size and specific gravity of the dust particles, as well as the air approach velocity and bleed air rate. Large variations in inlet temperature also affect collection efficiency. The Dynavane's effectiveness on dusts with different specific gravities and/or at different air temperatures may be investigated via the size correction charts in the product literature (under the Support Tab). Because temperature effects are secondary, corrections to the Dynavane's performance for normal ambient temperature variations is not necessary.

Dynavane blade packs may require periodic cleaning depending on concentration levels and consistency of contaminants. In these instances the blade packs are easily removed for cleaning. Optional Dynavane construction allows each blade pack to be pulled out and cleaned without removing the entire Dynavane assembly. This unique feature facilitates thorough inspection or service, if necessary. Caution should be exercised in the application of the Dynavane when dealing with oily or sticky contaminants. Additional application and performance information is available from Parker Farr.

Standard, pre-engineered Dynavane assemblies are available in sizes operating from 500 CFM to over 250,000 CFM. Custom engineered models are also available, and can be designed to suit our customer's needs. Multiple units can be combined to handle even greater air volumes with minimal space requirements.
