Premium Hydraulic Fluid - DuraClean™
Parker's motion and control technologies are being utilized by our customers in applications around the globe. Parker continues to advance hydraulic technology with our introduction of DuraClean™, an ultra-premium hydraulic fluid designed to offer exceptional protection of hydraulic system componentry. This multigrade hydraulic oil protects against wear, oxidation, rust, corrosion and varnish.
DuraClean™ hydraulic fluid was developed with a totally unique 'Clean Technology.' This hydraulic fluid has a unique additive chemistry, designed to maximize oil life while providing optimum anti-wear protection for the components of today's advanced hydraulic systems. This fluid innovation prevents harmful deposits from settling on components, protecting hydraulic systems from damage, component replacement, compromised performance and unanticipated downtime. Parker DuraClean™ makes it possible for hydraulic systems to 'Start Clean and Stay Clean.'
DuraClean™ proves its ability to 'Start Clean' first by being packaged and shipped with an ISO cleanliness level of at least 17/15/12. This helps to ensure excellent hydraulic performance from the beginning of operation, leading to a longer filter life, increased component reliability, and less sampling on the initial fill.
DuraClean™ proves its ability to 'Stay Clean' because of its unique additive chemistry and ability to resist oil oxidation. The byproducts caused from oil oxidation lead to varnish. Varnish is becoming more prevalent in hydraulic systems today as the size of reservoirs/components is decreasing, while the pressures used are increasing. The initial evidence of varnish is discoloration of metal surfaces caused by a soft sticky material. This soft sticky material clings to metal surfaces, attracts wear debris, and actually prevents anti-wear additives in the oil from attaching to the metal. The material then transitions into a very firm lacquer, causing increased friction within the hydraulic system which negates any of the power savings gained from using a smaller system. Varnish causes a chain reaction within a hydraulic system resulting in inconsistent operation, increased wear on componentry, reduced efficiency, and extended system downtime. These issues are completely preventable by using Parker DuraClean™ , saving our customers both time and the costs associated with the issues of system wear.
The durable formulation of DuraClean™ provides excellent protection of components even after the fluid has been used extensively. These varnish protection solutions provide proven performance and viscosity retention in a wide temperature range, setting Parker DuraClean™ apart from competitive fluids.

Low Pressure Tank Top Filters PT Series
The Parker PT Series Low Pressure Return Line Filters provide an economical alternative for quality tank top mounted filtration. With a Parker space saving design that protects the quality of filtration, the PT Series offers both modularity and value.
The Parker PT Series is available in two diameters and three lengths, with flow capacities up to 50GPM/188LPM depending on viscosity. The PT2 and PT4 filter cartridge models utilize Microglass III media in 2, 5, 10 and 20 microns for the industry’s best particle removal efficiency and retention. This return line filter applies In-to-Out Filtration, ensuring that any captured contamination is retained in the element during servicing the filter, preventing system recontamination.
The unique design simply threads into a ported weld or flange. The PT element can be integrated directly into a co-polymer reservoir. (Note: Parker Filtration can provide cavity details to co-polymer reservoir manufacturers for support of this innovative solution). The direct screw-in design creates a compact, flat reservoir surface, which typically reduces the first fit cost. Compared to the traditional tank top mounted filter, improved sealing between the reservoir and the filter can be achieved, eliminating potential leakage areas. Because all seals are pre-mounting, this reduces the risk of replacing the incorrect seals, assuring safety. This compact solution is ideal for supporting mobile applications.
The PT Series features a disposable filter cartridge, a single-piece construction, incorporating both the nylon cover and the bypass valve, located in the end cap. The cavity also includes the integrated return line port and optional connection for the pressure switch. The flow path is inside-out and requires no special tools for service. This design assures minimal installation costs with the least space requirements for return line applications.

Submicronic Removal Fluid Purification Systems
The Parker SMR Series Submicronic Removal Fluid Purification System is the smart purification solution for fluid flow around 10 GPM (38 LPM). The SMR contains Parker patented Balanced Charge Agglomeration (BCA™) technology, which maintains hydraulic and lubricating fluids in optimum condition while preventing/removing the build-up of sludge and varnish.
Balanced Charge Agglomeration (BCA™) technology does not remove water, however with the removal of thousands of submicron particles; the majority of sites where water can readily attach are mitigated. Water is more easily separated and removed, improving demulsibility, or the ability to release water.
Demulsibility is an important factor to consider when hydraulic equipment operates in an atmosphere that is wet or humid. Food-processing operations, such as cooking oil, for example, provide significant exposure to water-based process fluids.
Because oil is hygroscopic, or able to absorb water, it is quite easy for water to saturate the oil. Water enters through any number of ways, and must be removed in order to protect a system’s operation. When demulsibility is diminished, the oil will become contaminated by the water, causing quick wear to the system’s components.
Maintaining a hydraulic system’s oil cleanliness level will increase the life of the critical wear components, and reduce system downtime. Portable purification units are ideal for systems in applications demanding on-site decontamination. With several models to choose from, the Parker SMR Series is an ideal solution for many hydraulic system’s needs.
This system is available in a PLC or simplified control version. Please contact a Parker Representative for assistance.
Balanced Charge Agglomeration (BCA™) - How the Technology Works:
Contaminated fluid is passed over a series of high-voltage electrodes, inducing a charge on the submicron particles of (+) and (-), then the particles continue down separate paths. (Note that particulate contamination as small as 0.1 microns are able to amass this charge). Oil, a non-conducting fluid, remains neutral. The two oppositely charged particle fluid streams are then re-combined. The oppositely charged particles are then mixed and are attracted to each other, forming larger particle clusters, growing in size as they agglomerate, or join together. Submicron particles grow into multiple micron-sized particle clusters. Once larger in size, the particle clusters are more efficiently filtered. Finally, the particle clusters are then sent through the system’s high efficiency filter to be removed.
Applications:
• Power Generation (such as: Steam/Gas Turbine, and Hydraulics/Lubrication)
• Oil & Gas (such as: Compressor/Turbine Hydraulics and Lubrication)

Portable Purification Systems PVS Series
Water is one of the most common contaminants in a fluid system and one of the most damaging. When water contaminates a system, it can cause many serious problems such as: corrosion, fluid breakdown, reduction of lubricating properties, additive precipitation, oil oxidation, reduced dielectric strength, and abrasive wear in hydraulic components.
Whether dissolved water (water which is absorbed into the oil) or free water (occurring when oil is too saturated* to hold any more water), solid particulate, or air/gasses, contaminated oil can be purified on-site using Parker's PVS Series Portable Purification System.
* Please Note that Temperature and Fluid type determines the saturation point for your
system (Please Refer to Brochure).
Maintaining a hydraulic system's oil cleanliness level will increase the life of the critical wear components, and reduce system downtime. Portable purification units are ideal for systems in applications demanding on-site decontamination. With several models to choose from, the Parker PVS Series is an ideal solution for many hydraulic system's needs.
Principles of Operation:
Contaminated oil is drawn into the Parker PVS Series Portable Purification System by a vacuum. The contaminated oil is then subjected to optimum vacuum, temperature, and increased surface area exposure. The optimum temperature is achieved using an in-line, low watt density heater. Afterward, the oil enters the distillation column, where it is exposed to the vacuum through the use of special dispersal elements, achieving the increased surface area exposure. This process converts water into water vapor, which is then drawn through the condenser by the vacuum pump.
The water-free oil falls to the bottom of the distillation column and is removed by a heavy duty lube oil pump. This pump forces the dry oil through a final particulate removal filter. Clean oil passes out of the unit, back to the reservoir, and then back into the system.
Why PVS (Vacuum Dehydration) Techonology Out-performs Other Technologies?
• Centrifuge units – Removes free water only; has difficulty breaking stable emulsions; larger envelope dimensions but lower flows; higher initial and operating costs.
• Desiccant units – Have limited water removal capability due to absorbing material; only removes air ingressed particles; expensive compared to the volume of water removed.
• Coalescer units – Removes free water only; has difficulty breaking stable emulsions; does not work well in viscous fluids (>100 sus); much larger in size compared to PVS.

A superior type of filter element has been developed to allow the Moduflow™ Plus filter to operate at top designed effectiveness. The pleats are deeper and there are more of them, giving the Moduflow™ Plus element 60% more surface area within the same filter housing size than many comparable filters. More surface means more dirt-holding capacity, less need for service and replacement, for example new version offers 34% more filtration area and requires 1/3 fewer element changes.
Flow direction always travels from inside to outside the element. This particular flow direction, the special element seal, and newly designed closed bottom elements for the RFP and ILP models insures all contamination remains trapped within the element as the filter is serviced.
This filter also generates less pressure drop than comparably sized filters. The unique diverter valve assembly, and inside to outside flow through the element, allows the Moduflow™ Plus to be configured for inline, in-tank or suction filtration. The flow diverter minimizes turbulence and pressure loss through the filter, improving system performance. This also reduces the potential loss of prime encountered on variable volume pumps when used with conventional suction filters.
Mount the Parker Moduflow™ Plus Filter inline, on the tank in suction, or return line. There are five possible mountings/porting styles available, allowing for flexible installation. The local Parker distributor can put together any combination of components to get the filter the job requires.
A wide variety of visual and electrical indicators notify the operator when the element needs to be serviced. The Parker Tells-All indicator provides details, at every instant, on the condition of the Moduflow™ Plus Filter. How clean is the element, or how dirty? Is the filter functioning, or by-passing? And did the service engineer re-install an element in the unit? The indicator operates on differential pressure; this eliminates problems with conventional mechanical linkages to bypass valves. The Parker Tells-All indicator does not even have to be mounted right on the filter; install it just about anywhere on your equipment to make regular checks more convenient.

Tank Mounted Return Line Filter BGT Series
BGT Filters feature Parker's exclusive Magnetic Pre-filtration core which collects ferromagnetic particles from fluid upstream of the filter element. This feature alone could save hundreds of dollars a year by protecting costly equipment from increased wear and malfunction by assuring that the fluid is as pure as possible when it leaves the filter. Even during bypass due to cold start up, ferrous contaminant is collected by the magnetic core, a feature of importance on any fluid power system.
Fluid flows through the inlet port into an enlarged area which reduces fluid velocity. Inlet flow does not impinge on the element. Filtration begins with magnetic pre-filtration of ferromagnetic particles in the full fluid flow upstream of the element, not downstream or in the reservoir. Built-in or system generated ferromagnetic wear debris (even particles smaller than the element rating) are collected by the high strength (3.0K Gauss) magnetic column. This results in extended element and oil life and reduced maintenance and downtime, which reduces overall operating cost.
Fluid passes through the element in an inside-to-outside direction, collecting particles inside the filter cartridge. This eliminates reinjection of contaminant during element change. Clean fluid then returns to the reservoir through the diffusor which prevents fluid aeration.
Normal return line filters, that flow outside-to-inside, allow contaminated fluid to drain back into the reservoir when the element is serviced. Simplified bypass design and location prevents flushing previously collected contaminant back into the system. Since the element serves as the valve there is no troublesome separate valve to remove when changing elements. Magnetic filtration occurs even during bypass. All potential leakage paths are o-ring sealed to eliminate bypass leakage that occurs in loose fitting valve assemblies.
BGT Filters are available with disposable elements of several contamination class levels for use in all common fluids. Optional accessories include visual and electric warning indicators that assure proper element service.

Portable Filter Carts
New fluid is not necessarily clean fluid. Most new fluids (right out of the drum) are unfit for use due to high initial contamination levels. Contamination, both particulate and water, may be added to a new fluid during processing, mixing, handling and storage. The bottom line - fluid should always be filtered before being put into use. Using a portable filter cart can be a very effective way to reach and maintain cleanliness levels. Parker portable filter carts are the ideal way to prefilter and transfer fluids into reservoirs or to clean up existing systems.
The Parker Portable Filter Carts use two high capacity ModuFlow™ Plus filters for long element life and better system protection. The first stage (inlet) filter captures larger particles, while the second stage (outlet) filter captures finer particles or removes water.
Water is removed by installing Parker Par-Gel™ elements in the outlet filter. Par-Gel™ elements are made from a polymer which has a very high affinity for free water. Once water comes into contact with this material, it is removed from the system.
Parker Portable Filter Carts use a rugged industrial quality gear pump, which gets the job done fast.
Using a Parker portable filter cart is the most economical way to protect your system from the harm that can be caused by contamination.
